MySQL Enterprise Monitor has been an “internal” OEM customer of MySQL for over 6 years. We store all of our inventory, configuration and historical data in a MySQL-based repository. Given that our application is also developed using Java, I think we have some hard-learned lessons to pass on to those of you looking to ship your own applications that use Java and MySQL about how to pull this off. I‘m giving a webinar (http://mysql.com/news-and-events/web-seminars/display-703.html) on April 12th where I‘ll talk about what we‘ve figured out shipping a Java-based MySQL application over the years, including dealing with upgrades, backups, data purging, ORMs and schema evolution. Hope to see you there!
